Key Mechanic: Sleep / Plating
Lagavulin Matriarch sleeps for 3 turns with 12 Plating (damage reduction). She wakes when she takes unblocked damage or after 3 turns. While asleep, use the free turns to set up your engine — play Powers, buffs, and scaling cards.
Attack Pattern
Sleeps for 3 turns (or until taking unblocked damage). Once awake: Slash → Disembowel → Block/Attack → Soul Siphon, then repeats.
Slash
18 damageStandard attack dealing ~18 damage.
Disembowel
12 damageMulti-hit attack dealing ~12 damage x2.
Soul Siphon
Permanently reduces your Strength by 2 and Dexterity by 2. Repeats each cycle.
Block + Attack
14 damageAttacks for ~14 while gaining defensive Block.
How to Beat Lagavulin Matriarch
Use the 3 sleep turns to set up Powers, scaling, and buffs without taking any damage. Once she wakes, rush her down — every Soul Siphon cycle permanently weakens you with -2 Strength and -2 Dexterity. The longer the fight goes, the weaker you get. Multi-hit attacks help pierce through her early Plating.
Sleep turns are free setup — play Powers and scaling cards without fear
Soul Siphon permanently reduces your stats, so speed is essential
Multi-hit attacks help break through the 12 Plating while she's asleep
Don't accidentally wake her early with chip damage unless you're ready
